Sprinter Sales Increase in Half of 2011

An article from Wards Auto reported a double in sales figure of Mercedes-Benz' Sprinter van. The Silver Arrow delivered a total of 5,185 units, a 102.1% increase compared to the numbers posted in the same time last year.

The vans were sold before as Dodge by Chrysler. Right now, out of the 353 Mercedes-Benz dealerships, 108 of them is currently selling the Sprinter as well as some Freightliner dealers and the number is also increasing.

Price of the passenger van costs $39,000 and has 200 stand-alone options and 24 packages that are optional. With these prices and choices, the van is beginning to be the pick for those offering chauffeur services and big families.

Mercedes-Benz ML 350 Disguised as a Honda CRV in China

A China news article reported and showed pictures of a Honda CRV police car with an uncanny resemblance to Mercedes-Benz ML350, or so it seems.

The article which gathered a lot of negative comments directed to Fengchenggang city government, said that it is indeed the luxury car which was re-badged in an attempt to conceal the fact that the car is priced at 900,000 yuan ($140,000). In the midst of issues regarding the government wasting taxpayers' money, they changed the logo on the grill and tailgate to the big “H” and removed the three-star logo that is found in all Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The change backfired to the authorities as the citizens learned about the truth. With almost everyone in the world learning about cars because of Internet access, it is no surprise that they immediately learned about the 'masking' attempt.

Mercedes-Benz USA June Sales Increased

June 2011 sales figure has been released by Mercedes-Benz USA and the numbers are looking good. MBUSA sold a total of 22,653 units for this month representing an increase of 18.8% from June 2010. This is the highest number for June and also the highest for the first half of the year. Meanwhile, the YTD sales is 118,021 vehicles which penned a 10.4% increase in the company's books.
The E-Class and C-Class came in first in this numbers game as the 5,798 units of 9^th generation of E-Class was sold. The C-Class sold a total of 4,620 while the the M-Class was able to finish at third with 3,071. Another milestone for the company was its sales for 2012 CLS-class 4-door coupe increased by 645.5% and the GL-Class SUV increased by 75.9% based on June 2010 sales.

Spyphotos of C63 AMG Black Series

C63 AMG Black Series has been revealed! Albeit unofficially, the guys at speedfans.fr showed leaked photos of the much awaited car.

The car, as reported about a couple of months ago will have 507HP but now, the article says it is 510HP which is not really a big difference, considering the rider will no longer feel it because of the car's speed. The engine is reported to be 6.2-liter V8 and seven-speed ‘Speedshift’ MCT Automatic will also be available.

Mercedes-Benz' Sales Figure for June, Second Quarter and Half Year Soared

The first one, last month was the best June records ever with a total sales of 120,510 globally, a 6.4% increase to the same month in 2010. And since the April and May records are also high, it meant that they also set the record for the highest sales in the second quarter. Finally, the first half of the year, with a total of 10,531 customers purchasing the three-pointed star brand, became the highest as well.

As the Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars, Dr. Joachim Schmidt said, “The first half of the year went very well for Mercedes-Benz. We achieved double-digit increases in many markets, our products are in demand, and we succeeded in setting a new record. Our aim is to continue this trend. In the second half of 2011 we want to achieve further growth compared to last year.” In addition to the very popular new C-Class generation, the new M-Class will also be a driver of the positive development.” He also added, “ Customers can order the M-Class starting on July 11, the market launch in Western Europe will be in fall. We’re on the right track, and this year we have our sights set on achieving an all-time sales record by selling more than 1.3 million Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and smart fortwo.”

2012 Mercedes Benz SLK in Australia

The new Mercedes-Benz SLK offers a lot of characteristics, efficiency, power and luxury feel. The car also made sure that the driver will be involved in the over-all experience of the car. Being a one of the best cars among the newly produced models, this one has reached the land down under.

The price for this car in Australia has not been set yet, as they have only listed the Manufacturer's List Price which does not include the dealer delivery and on-road costs yet. The MLP for the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY equipped with a 1.8L engine is AU$82,900 and the SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY powered by 3.5L V6 unit is AU$118,900.

Mercedes' 125! Years inventor of automobile at the 2011 Festival of Speed

Classic models of Mercedes- Benz will participate in the hill climb with other sport vehicles at the 2011 Festival of Speed on July 1-3.

But that is not the highlight for the brand, as after the hill climb, Mercedes-Benz will be showcased at the exhibition titled “125! Years Inventor of the Automobile”. In the exhibit, history, style and power that is inherent in all Mercedes-Benz vehicles will be shown.

The legendary race cars Silver Arrow W 165 , the 300 SL and the 1990 model 190 2.5-litre 16V EVOLUTION II Touring Car plus the modern Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 will participate in the 1.86 km hill climb. Meanwhile, the exhibition will showcase the Benz Patent Motor Car of 1886, 1902 Mercedes Simplex, Mercedes-Benz 500 K Cabriolet B, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (W 198)gullwing coupé, 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé.

Following the traditions of the festival, the hill climb cars will be driven by legendary race car drivers such as Paul Stewart, Sir John Surtees, Bernd Schneider and Klaus Ludwig.
