Mercedes-Benz of Lynnwood: MAGIC SKY CONTROL Poised for SLK-CLass Debut

While the Seattle area is dipping below freezing, the Mercedes-Benz SLK is basking in the memory of recent endurance tests in Death Valley. With new MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof ready to make its debut, final tests are performed to make sure there are no surprises as this technology rolls off the production line in the new SLK.

After passing arctic weather endurance tests last winter in polar-degree temperatures with flying colors (and now ready for a cold Seattle winter like this one is shaping up to be), the SLK is ready to take on the heat. Allowed to heat in the sun for four hours over multiple days, readings are collected then distributed via internet to developers both in the US and in Sindelfingen. Over the test period, changes were made, ending the test period with excellent results.

Mercedes-Benz of Lynnwood: GLK BlueTEC On The Way

With diesel becoming a popular option for drivers, Mercedes-Benz has announced that the 2012 GLK will also feature a 2.2-liter BlueTEC diesel engine. The fuel economy and quieter engine make this an excellent choice for diesel drivers. While this GLK will initially cost more than the gasoline version, the price can be offset by the increased fuel economy.

This BlueTEC technology isn't limited to the 2012 GLK-Class, the next-generation C-Class is planning on BlueTEC a engine, adding to the already established E, M, GL, and R-Class Mercedes-Benz.

The idea, born in the Daimler "Business Innovation Community," gives Daimler employees around the world the opportunity to post their ideas on the company intranet, then have fellow employees comment and further refine the ideas.
