All New 2014 S-Class

The All New 2014 S-Class Launch date is this September with the 4MATIC and AMG variants coming later in the year. The most exciting news is there are going to be multiple wheelbases and hopefully a Pullman version. Rumor has it that we will see a production version of the car in May. The S-Class taking a page from the SLs book is now utilizing more aluminum in its body. It will also be offered in 3 all new color options: Diamond Silver (Offered on other Mercedes models), Ruby Black (New), Anthracite Blue (New). There will also be new trim offerings: Myrtle Sunburst, Black Popular and “Metalized Ash.” Expect some more luxurious appointments like a Burmester Sound System and “Air Balance Package” which will ionize the air and add a slight perfume to it. 800hp, V12 Monster by BRABUS.

The Brabus 800 Roadster is based off of the SL65 AMG. The 6.0 liter V12 Biturbo motor comes from AMG with 630hp and Brabus has amped that up to 800hp. The 0-60 time has dropped from 4 to 3.7 seconds with a top speed limited to 217mph. As with all Brabus products it isn’t all about power. There are 20inch allow wheels available as well as a full aerodynamic body kit. In addition you can have the interior completely redone and of course new gauges to show off your increased top speed.

2,220hp All Electric Cigarette Racing Powerboat

What happens when Cigarette Racing gets inspired by the 740hp SLS AMG E-Cell and collaborates with AMG? Well you get an all-electric 2,220hp cigarette racing boat! This boat was accomplished by borrowing some of the electric drive train from the E-Cell and is the “world’s most power electric drive powerboat”. The SLS E-Cell has 4 Electric motors and this boat has 6. The other thing these two share is the matte neon yellow paint officially called “AMG Electric beam mango” Who ever said being green isn’t fun?

6 Wheel Drive G63 AMG

The G63 AMG is a spectacular an intimidating machine in and of itself. But add an extra 2 wheels and you turn it into the most insane off-road vehicle on the planet. This vehicle was spotted in Europe (looks like German license plates) and its final use or destination is yet to be determined. A 3 axel G Wagon already exists and is used by the Australian military. However, the non camo paint and the AMG badging makes this look like it’s for civilian use. 6 Wheels, 544hp and a bunch of mud sounds like a fun adventure to us!

Gullwing America Makes One Off Retro SLS AMG

Gullwing America has some experience making one off cars based on Mercedes. In 2009 Gullwing America made a vehicle that looks very similar to the 300 SL, but incorporates modern technology. The same premise was used with this vehicle. It was commission by someone in Europe and is built on a SLS AMG platform. This project dubbed the 300 SLC is inspired by the 300 SC, which was a very limited production Mercedes back in 1955. The end product is a completely one off handmade aluminum body.

GLA Details Released

If you haven’t heard Mercedes-Benz is working on a compact SUV smaller than the GLK. It will be called the GLA and is based on the same platform as the CLA. It is confirmed that this SUV will be built in Germany and will be offered in a front wheel drive and 4MATIC. The engine options will be just like the CLA, a 4 cylinder 1.8 turbo, and hopefully the 250 diesel engine. An AMG version has not been mentioned. Mercedes-Benz is rumored to debut a concept version at the Shanghai auto show in April. But, don’t expect to see a production model until earliest next year as a model year 2015.

A45 AMG Released

Let’s start with the bad news. We will not likely see the A-Class or the A45 AMG in the States for a long time, if ever. But, The A45 gives us a great hint at some of the appointments and the engine that the CLA45 AMG will receive late this year. So for those of you gear heads that want a CLA45 AMG, go over to Europe and drive and A45 if you can get your hands on one. This is going to be one hot car and a new experience for Mercedes-Benz. It will be the first compact AMG vehicle and the first vehicle to receive the turbocharged 2.0 liter engine. AMG can proudly say that they make the most powerful production four cylinder motor in the world that boasts 360hp and 332 ft-lb torque. 0-60 comes in at a surprisingly 4.6 seconds utilizing the Race Start Function. Look for a lot of the exterior and interior AMG styling on the CLA45 soon!

AMG's New 4.0 Turbocharged V8 Motor

Rumor has it that AMG is working on replacing the naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8 in the C63 AMG to a 4.0 liter turbocharged V8. Sounds like they will be boring out the motor that will premiere in the CLA45 to get a larger displacement. The best news is that the horsepower will be about the same (450hp vs. 451hp currently). It is also estimated that this engine would be able to generate a maximum of 600hp. So, hopefully the AMG development package for model year 2014 will boast a larger horsepower figure than model year 2013. All in all, the trend in the automotive industry will be smaller displacement motors. You can thank the CAFE standards for that.

2014 CLA Shooting Break

This is what happens when someone has some spare time, a few pictures of the all new CLA and Photoshop. What do you think of a CLA Shooting Brea? We think it would be a great idea. Take a compact car and give it more space to haul things, making it more practical. Not to mention the CLS has a Shooting Break version. However, Wagons / Shooting Breaks / Estates, whatever you want to call them have always been a hard sell for Mercedes-Benz in the states. But, we hope that Mercedes sees this car and thinks about making a production one!

Cigarette Racing Team's 42’ Huntress Inspired by the G63 AMG

 Mercedes-Benz is back at it again with the Cigarette Racing Team. This 42’ long Huntress is inspired by the G63 AMG. It is going to debut at the Miami International Boat show and has AMG styling cues throughout. Most noticeably the diamond stitched leather seats. Power comes from Five 350hp Mercury Verado engines. This is the 3^rd boat the Cigarette Racing Team has built that was inspired by AMG vehicles.
